Connecting to the cluster

HPC AI cluster login method​

The following is the address of the cluster:

  • (April 2022 commissioning) HPC Phase 1 platform SSH & WEB access address:

    hpc1login.hpc.hkust-gz.edu.cn

  • （New）HPC AI Intelligent Computing Platform Phase II platform SSH&WEB access address:

    hpc2login.hpc.hkust-gz.edu.cn

  • （New）HPC national AI platform SSH&WEB access address:

    airamlogin.hpc.hkust-gz.edu.cn

User off-campus connection guide​

You need to log in the VPN before accessing the HPC platform, off-campus remote access address:

Web Portal Login​

Open the browser and visit https://login.hpc.hkust-gz.edu.cn

The login interface is as follows, enter your username and password and click login.

After successful login verification, you will see "HPC+AI Intelligent Computing Centre Ⅰ", "HPC+AI Intelligent Computing Centre Ⅱ", "Domestic AI Intelligent Computing Centre", and "HPC+EDA Intelligent Computing Centre" four modules.

SSH Mode Connection​

Use the SSH connection of the user's local computer​

You can use securecrt, putty, MobaXterm and the ssh tool that comes with windows system (windows 10 and windows 11) to connect.

The ssh tool "Terminal" (i.e. Windows PowerShell) that comes with Windows 11 is used here as an example. Other ssh tools can be connected in a similar way. Open the Terminal that comes with Windows 11 and enter the command:

ssh username@hpc2login.hpc.hkust-gz.edu.cn

Enter the password to log in to the login node of the Smart Computing Platform. The following is the example:

Browser WEB using SSH mode​

After logging into the WEB portal, double-click the "Application Repository" ---- to enable "Linux_terminal"; return to the WEB desktop, double-click the "Linux_terminal" icon to start the "Linux_terminal".

Back to WEB desktop, double click "Linux_terminal" icon to start the terminal interface, and then you can do related operations in the terminal.

Note: Because Linux_terminal needs to load user's environment during startup, the startup time of Linux_terminal is about 20s;

Linux_terminal displays the window size according to the resolution of the user's computer, users can adjust the window size by themselves according to the following figure;
